Managing the safety and security of such a busy town centre both during the day and through the night is a huge task. There are many people involved including security guards, door supervisors, the town centre police team, community safety police officers, store detectives, CCTV team. These are only a few of the people who contribute to making the town centre safe.

Safe and Sound is an initiative co-ordinated by the community safety team whose aim is to join up the management of both the daytime and night time economy. Safe and Sound is a partnership approach to managing the night time economy and is made up of representatives from the Police, Licensees and the Local Authority. The Safe and Sound Template is currently being rolled out across the borough.

The purpose of Safe and Sound is: To positively promote Romford Town Centre as a safe place to live work and visit through a partnership approach with the London Borough of Havering, the Metropolitan Police and local businesses. The safe and sound initiative will cover the day and night time economy by reducing opportunities for crime and disorder.
