Anti Social Behaviour (ASB) in Havering - continued

What can you do about it?

Report it to us! The contact details for the Council’s Anti-social Behaviour Team are on the back. The more information we have, the more likely it is we can do something to stop it. It’s a good idea to jot down notes about incidents when they happen, so you don’t have to rely on memory. Write down the details you notice such as:

  • The date and time of day
  • Where it happened – an address or description of the location
  • Details about the behaviour – what was done or said
  • Whatever you know about who did it. You may not know their or address but can you describe them? Working out their identity makes a big difference to what we can do.
  • Roughly how long has this been happening and how often?

Remember, if something is happening that puts you or anyone else at risk, or threatens to damage property, don’t wait to report it – call the police on 999.

If a council tenancy is involved

Homes in Havering manages all the Council’s housing and has specially trained staff who will deal with the problems if either the person experiencing them or the person causing them is a tenant (or leaseholder) in Council property. You can report a problem to them on 01708 434000 (or outside normal office hours on 01708 756699).

Confidentiality

We will keep the information you give us confidential. We will ask for your agreement to share it with any other service that can help. No-one will reveal your identity to the people causing the problem without your permission. This is often not necessary but can sometimes limit what we can do – for example where the situation means it would be obvious that the complaint must have come from you; in that case we will discuss the options with you.
